Flipping the Script: Producing BetGoodwin’s Second Standout Commercial
When you think of a TV Advert, the first thing that comes to mind probably isn’t a professional boxer on horseback or a CEO in a boxing ring. However, that’s exactly what we brought to life for BetGoowin’s latest commercial.
At Impress, we think out of the box to push creative boundaries for our projects. In this one, we took two champions out of their comfort zones and captured the magic on camera. So, keep reading to know the insights of the video and watch the outcome.
Everything About BetGoodwin’s TV Advert
The Creative Challenge
The company approached us with a bold and creative brief, swapping their sponsored athletes’ sports and turning the spectacle into a compelling TV advert. So, the concept is both exciting and challenging. The idea for this BetGoodwin‘s TV Advert was having a professional boxer, Ebony Bridges, take on the role of a jockey. But the innovative part is when their CEO stepped into the boxing ring against Johnny Fisher, known as The Romford Bull.
Consequently, our team started working immediately on the idea. We knew this would be a great way to think out of the box and overcome the challenge IMPRESSively. Also, making the video look authentic and believable while capturing the audience’s attention and keeping them engaged.
Crafting a Digital Battleground
One of the hardest challenges of the video production process was creating a real horse jump race without a traditional racetrack or green screen. Therefore, we created a digital background from scratch, filming in a horse training ground in Winchester. The location required strategic camera work, using different angles, and a lot of post-production work to build a racecourse.
Mike Cattermole who is a horse racing commentator played a crucial role, bringing authenticity and humour to the scenes. All in all, the race seemed to be underway, pushing the limits of the challenge and resulting in a spectacular video production.
Turning a CEO into a Boxer
Moreover, we transformed their CEO into a convincing boxer in 50 minutes, without throwing him into the ring with no knowledge and hoping for the best. Instead, we took careful planning, directed strategically and rapid camera work. Our creative director, Gurmit Samra, guided the CEO through each punch and dodge while our cameraman captured the actions from each angle.
In addition, the post-production team led by Harry had to fine-tune the footage we had. So, adding special effects and rapid edits that made the CEO a professional fighter. Also, Big John, known for his iconic “BOSHHH!” catchphrase and Johnny Fisher’s father, included excitement in the scene. Hence, creating a unique and humorous moment, that makes the video IMPRESSive.
A Spectacle for Betting Community
The final outcome was a TV sport, but also a good spectacle that got everyone in the betting industry talking. The business concept paid off, and we are keen to have been in the production process. BetGoodwin was delighted with the video, and it developed into discussions on different platforms such as Sky TV, YouTube or social media apps.
We collaborated with Clear Cast to ensure we met all the production guidelines. From the initial scripting guide to the final video and the processes in between, we worked closely together. Once the general working edits were greenlet, the final TV advertisement was uploaded to Sky TV for airing on their betting channel. So, the process of creating the advert was creative and compliant with the industry standards.
Breaking Boundaries and Seeking New Doors
This project was a great achievement in terms of breaking TV advert boundaries and innovating. Hence, by flipping the script and playing with athletes in unexpected roles, the visual experience was entertaining and got viewers thinking.
Going beyond the ordinary in video production is hard, as adverts usually follow a basic guideline. However, working with professionals and business insiders can create an outstanding video production. Also, knowing your audience and re-adapting to new challenges will make the videos successful.
